(See BPT web site: 01/21 meeting materials Admissions Report)There are two Admissions Ambassadors assisting in the office. Tom Sain andShane Creepingbear, 2008 alums.The Admissions review committee includes, Kristen, Mark, Susan Eklund-Leen,Tom Sain and Shane Creepingbear.To date there have been750 inquiries. The primary area of expressed interest isScience. 62 applications have been received, 16 of which are early decision.Discussion regarding diversity recruitment strategies, statistics, interview process andprotocols, admittance process, student preparedness followed Kristen’s presentation.Art & Science ReportDavid Strauss and Sue May of Art & Science presented an overview and introduction to theresearch they have conducted.A PowerPoint presentation followed with David leading the review of the materialsand Sue presenting the Counselor survey.Materials were made available to the Board.Following discussion with Sue and David, Board members debriefed about theAdmissions and Art & Science presentations. All Board members agreed to begin theSunday morning meeting earlier than scheduled in order to take up furtherdiscussion of admissions and recruitment in light of the data provided by Art &Science.David and Sue left the meeting.Accreditation ReportLen Clark and Tom Kirk joined the meeting.Len reviewed the steps taken thus far in the accreditation process and the status ofthe process following the visit from the Ohio Board of Regents on January 19th.Len reports that a positive response from the OBR is expected.Concerns from the OBR include the rate of appointment and search for critical
positions including IT, and Director of the Library. Len’s impression is that therecommendations will be things that the College is already preparing to do.Once a letter from the OBR is received, the Preliminary Information Form will besubmitted to the Higher Learning Commission of North Central Association.Mark thanked Len for his leadership and guidance through this critical process.Faculty Hiring ReportTom Kirk reviewed the status of the faculty searches. The following positions have been posted: Cultural Anthropology, 3-D Arts,Chemistry, and PhilosophyTo be posted soon: Literature, Spanish.(See BPT web site: 01/21 meeting materials Faculty Search Report)Discussion followed.
