October 8, 2010 — Brian Springer, representing the online archive The Antioch Papers, sent a formal request to the legal counsel for Antioch University, the Antioch College Continuation Corporation (ACCC), the Greene County Probate Court, and the Ohio Attorney General asking that the full text of the June 30, 2009 Asset Purchase Agreement (APA) be made public.
The APA was the instrument that formally transferred Antioch College’s campus, endowment, and related assets from Antioch University to the newly-independent ACCC — the corporate step behind the College’s 2011 reopening. Springer argued that although the Ohio AG approved the APA and the Greene County Probate Court relied on it in issuing its ruling, the document itself had never been released to the public.
